My Story
I paint the silence of the landscape and the inner world hidden in portraits
I create under the pseudonym MonArp, a name derived from the first letters of my first and last name. Based in Slovakia, I found my way back to art quite unexpectedly.
My journey began in late 2020 with a simple paint-by-numbers kit. When I finished, I couldn’t bring myself to throw away the remaining acrylics. Instead, I grabbed an old piece of cardboard and spontaneously painted my first winter landscape. In that moment of pure joy, a childhood dream was reborn.
As a self-taught artist without formal training, I paint intuitively, guided by my emotions. I draw my inspiration from the beauty of nature, the rhythm of music, and the simple magic of everyday moments.
(NO)portraits
In my current practice, watercolor takes center stage. Through its inherent lightness and unpredictability, I explore the landscape of human emotions. These are not traditional facial studies; instead, I seek what lies beneath the surface: inner experiences, hidden tension, and the fleeting nature of a single moment. My work often focuses on the female figure and her confrontation with her own mind.

Landscape Painting: A Source of Vitality
Landscape painting serves as my essential counterpoint—it is my reset and my source of strength. When I paint a landscape, I am not merely standing before a canvas; I become part of the world I create. With every brushstroke, I am right there, immersed in the heart of the nature I am depicting.
I also work with acrylics on canvas. The fast-drying nature, precision in detail, and vibrant colors of acrylics allow me to work in layers, creating enduring and impactful pieces.
My creative curiosity constantly drives me to seek new forms of expression, leading me to occasionally expand my palette with oil painting or the delicate touch of soft pastels.
